Pride and Prejudice: An Intro To Contemporary Fashion (Part 6)

Forget black! White was the “in” color during the Regency era. Personally, I have an aversion to white due to clumsiness while eating/ walking, but the girls of Pride and Prejudice made it work.

With their hair in curls, the square necklines and long flowing dresses, the modern age naturally associates those concepts with the wedding dress ensemble. But you’re actually not that far off, at least in intention.

The Regency era, or rather the Romantic era was inspired in much part by contemporaries and their rekindled love of the Middle ages, knights, chivalry, and romance. Curls and long flowing white dresses may have only been in vogue for a short time, but the concept of romantic and romance have become an integral part of our culture from then on.
